What Are Dentures?
Dentures are removable prosthetics designed for patients who are missing teeth. There are two types of dentures. Complete dentures are made for patients who are missing all of their teeth in their upper and/or lower jaws. A partial denture is made if you have natural teeth remaining.
How Long Will It Take To Get My Dentures?
The denture process will take approximately three weeks from the time of impressions to the delivery of the complete denture. This will require three appointments for impressions, a wax try in and the final delivery. The length of these appointments may vary from patient to patient. After the delivery of your dentures, adjustments can be made as necessary.
How Do I Maintain My Dentures?
Just like natural teeth, dentures need to be cleaned in order to remove plaque and food particles and to prevent staining. When brushing your dentures a soft bristle toothbrush in order to avoid scratching or damaging the teeth. Your dentures should be soaked in water when they are not being worn so that they do not dry out or warp. Wearing dentures for long periods of time may cause gum irritation and bad breath. Brushing your mouth regularly will help to reduce these issues and maintain healthy gums.
